In the month of October, 2011 the world's cheapest Aakash Tablet was launched by the Indian Government. Aakash Tablet was earlier named as Sakshat but later it changed into Aakash which means "SKY". This Tablet was designed by a UK company which was working on it from past few months. This tablet mostly hit the market in the month of November. It's cost in retail stores is around Rs.2250 ($60) per unit. It is just Rs.1750 ($35) for students. It runs on Android 2.2 version.
This device is going to be very useful for the students as it is cheap so that anybody can buy it easily and it has various applications so that students can read or write notes, watch videos, create pdf files, create power point files etc etc . From the point of view of the students this is very useful device for them in this modern era.
When the students get this news that Aakash Tablet has launched, then it is found that the students stopped buying iPads, Samsung Galaxy Tabs etc. etc.
A. Features of Aakash Tablet:-
1. Hardware:-
Aakash tablet comes with Graphics Accelerator and HD Video Processor, 256MB RAM, Internal Memory 2GB Flash, External Memory 2GB and can be easily expand to 32GB.
One thing that makes it different from all other costly tabs that it comes with a 2.0 USB hub port which is the main feature of this Aakash Tablet.
For audio it has 3.5 mm jack. Its resolution is 800×480 pixel. It has 7 inches touch screen display. For connectivity it has GPRS and WiFi IEEE 802.11 a/b/g. Battery supports 180 minutes backup without interpreting.
2. Software:-
The OS comes with Android 2.2 with document rendering. Aakash tablet supports DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, ODT, ODP, XLS, XLSX and other formats in it. it has also a PDF viewer and a Text Editor.
3. Multimedia and Image:-
